I remember, when I was 5
The stories of those warriors' lives.
Fighting to make everything right.
One of them was named Laxmibai
To kill her, the Brits forgot about pride
Through acts of deception she died
one against many! That ain’t a fair fight
A coward stabbed her from behind.
That is against warrior pride.
Even though she didn’t
These stories need to survive.
Another set of heroes
Who were our nation’s pride
Were the great southern dynasties
Who’s names gave everyone fright
The Pandyas, Cholas and the Cheras.
Known as South India’s core.
Expanded, built temples and served
Like it was just a simple chore.
Even the Mughals despite their efforts
Couldn't breakthrough the Vellore fort
People know us for poverty
Not the stories that shows our pride
Our wealth might be lost.
But our stories need to survive.
