Shepard of Lost Ambition - Quinn Matteson

The smell of rain freshly fallen on grassy lawns is

hard to forget, no matter how hard you try. Everything moves,

but not a lot changes. The moments in between are filled with

short smiles and bit off-laughter, knowing that

if we laugh too long we won’t have enough time

for the moment after this one. What’s

left amongst moth-tattered moments is held together by

you, and that little ray of light that peeks

pensively through slits in the blinds, even when no one asks it to. You’d stop

and admire it someday, but there’s not enough time. But

for now that little speck of sunlight is just enough-

because it has to be. If you squint hard enough it

almost looks like a happy ending.
